The Royal Melbourne Hospital Neuroscience Foundation conducts research into diseases of the brain 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

The multi-disciplinary hospital based research team is available whenever patients need access to one of the Foundation's world leading neuroscience research programs available at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.  The team comprises neurologists and neurosurgeons, research fellows, nurses, and scientists.

Australasia's largest hospital based neuroscience research team is on-call all day, every day.  The research programs - if suitable for a patient's individual condition - are available to all patients treated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.  All patients have equal access to the world's best clinical treatments in neuroscience including research therapies available for their condition.

Many research therapies from only a few years ago are now commonly used treatments available to patients at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, such as thrombolysis for stroke.  Research is the future.

All neuroscience research at The Royal Melbourne Hospital has undergone rigorous peer review by the Melbourne Health Human Research and Ethics Committees (HRECs), both of which are constituted in accordance with the requirements of the National Health and Medical Research Council, the Australia Research Council and the Australian Vice Chancellors' Committee National Statement on Ethical Conduct on Human Research 2007.
